The Crown’s brand new and highly dramatic fourth season has cast an even more giant spotlight on the royal family, and now Princess Diana’s former private secretary Patrick Jephson is weighing in.
In a piece for The Daily Mail (via Newsweek), Jephson voiced concern over members of the royal family trying to “live like Diana”—seemingly referencing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
He added, “Pretty soon, you have crossed the line from setting a good example—all a member of the Royal Family really has to do—to setting yourself up as an expert in public policy without the trouble of winning an election.”
Yikes. This seems pretty harsh. Meghan and Harry certainly are not “peaching platitudes” nor do they claim to be experts in public policy? What they are doing is encouraging people to vote, speaking out about racial injustice, and using their significant platforms to help others. Next!
