The mathematics graduate revealed that she started to toilet train baby Maven from the age of three months in a bid to go green.

“We started potty training Mave when she was really teeny tiny,” she told The Sun.

The star went on to explain that not only was it environmentally friendly, but that she and husband Pasha also saved money on buying nappies.

She continued: “We saved loads of money, and loads of plastic too.

“And we use cloth nappies — when you’ve got a baby, you’re doing more washing anyway.”

The NHS website states that most parents start potty training their children when they are between two and two and a half years old, but added that there is no “perfect” time.

The star is currently pregnant with hers and her Strictly partner’s second child and said that she plans to start potty training from a young age again.

Three months ago, the Countdown maths whizz took to Instagram to announce her pregnancy in view of her 507,000 followers.

Standing beside her board on the show, Rachel proudly cradled her blossoming bump as she donned a floral dress.

She penned: “A special teatime teaser!

“And your clue is… Riley had this to thank for the reason her clothes no longer fit her,” she revealed.

“And it’ll only get worse till Autumn!

She ended the post: “Happy, happy days for our little family @pashakovalev and future big sister Mave.”

Rachel was partnered with her now-husband Pasha during her 2013 Strictly Come Dancing stint.

The maths star was the fifth contestant to be voted off Strictly in November 2013 after losing the dance-off to Abbey Clancy and Aljaž Škorjanec, who went on to win the series.

Six years later, Rachel and Pasha tied the knot in a Las Vegas wedding, and welcomed daughter Maven in the same year.

Two months ago, Pasha opened up about the past year in lockdown after announcing that his tour with Strictly’s Aljaz Skorjanec had been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Taking to social media, the dance professional said he was “sad” the tour couldn’t go ahead, but credited his family for keeping him moving “forward.”

“My baby girl, she was born at the end of 2019, so all my focus went on taking care of her throughout both lockdowns”, he told PA.

“Spending a lot of time with my family and watching my girl grow was an absolutely incredible chance that I would never, ever in a million years get if I would have to work.”
