Rachel Riley surprised by Pasha for 3000th Countdown episode
Countdown star Rachel Riley has opened up about the realities of her marriage to ex-Strictly Come Dancing professional Pasha Kovalev now that they have two children.
The brainy star says the couple are currently “ships that pass in the night” thanks to their busy work schedule.
The 37-year-old shares three-and-a-half-year-old Maven and 20-month-old Noa with Pasha and admits the couple find it difficult to make time for themselves.
“I guess it’s family time as much as anything at the moment. We have a rare date night because he’s going to be away for quite a long time,” she told The Sun.
“I need to be more organised to see what days he has off – I’m juggling so many things.”

“It’s nice to have date nights especially as we can be ships that pass in the night, especially when you have kids as well,” she continued.
Rachel and Pasha met when they were partnered on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and they married in June the following year. They welcomed their first daughter that December.
Recently, 43-year-old Pasha exclusively gave Express.co.uk an insight into their family life.
“As rule for myself when my first child was born, and I continued with the second one, is that I will speak to them in my mother language which is Russian,” he explained.
“My mom and my dad, I doubt they will learn English ever, so for me for my kids to have a good connection with them would be a priority.

“The first step to see that happening will be teaching them the language that they can communicate with,” he continued emphasising: “I only speak with my kids in Russian at home.”
As for where this leaves wife Rachel, who was recently awarded an MBE, Pasha admitted that she is not frozen out as she is as gifted with languages as she is with maths.
“She was keen on learning Russian as well and she is great with languages,” he said.
“She’s a very smart cookie, besides being beautiful and the kindest person I’ve ever met in my life. She’s amazing.
“So, she understands Russian so whenever I communicate with my girls, she knows what’s happening.”
