Oh man. Yet another beloved musical mind lost to the coronavirus pandemic. Fred The Godson has died far too young at just 35 years old.
On Thursday the New York City MC passed away after a weeks-long battle with COVID-19.

The rapper, whose real name was Fredrick Thomas, told fans the bad news of his infection with the novel coronavirus back on April 6, posting a photo from the hospital (above, inset) along with the caption:
“I’m in here wit this Corvus 19 s**t! Please keep me in y’all prayers!!!! ?????? #godisgreat”
Sadly just 17 days later he was gone.
Friend DJ Self broke the tragic news on Thursday, writing on Instagram:
“Was loved by many never heard one bad thing about you RIP @fredthegodsonmusic Sleep Well my brother ??”
Self was clearly right about how loved Fred, also sometimes known as Gordo, was. Within just a couple hours the tributes were pouring in from throughout the hip hop world.
