Rapper PnB Rock's body to be released for funeral after family conflict

Rapper PnB Rock’s body will be released to his family for his funeral after conflict with his family over preparing for a religious burial.

The musician, real name Rakim Hasheem Allen, was shot and killed on September 12, during a robbery at a Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles after the artist got into a struggle with a suspect, according to LAPD Chief Michel Moore.

According to reports, a struggle erupted after a gunman entered the eatery and demanded jewellery, before opening fire.

Investigators have put an alarm out to pawn shops to try and catch the killer should they try to sell any of the items.

TMZ reported that a medical examiner has concluded Allen, 30, died from a gunshot wound to the back/chest following his autopsy.

Now his autopsy has been completed, his body can be returned to his family, who are Muslim, for burial.

In the time between his death and burial, the rapper’s mother flew from her home in Philadelphia to identify and claim her son’s body.

She reportedly wanted to forego the autopsy and have the body released immediately as Islamic law requires burial to happen as quickly as possible after death.

The rapper’s family was informed that law requires a post-mortem examination in criminal cases, and thus his body could not be released immediately.

Allen, born December 9, 1991, is best known for working with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Meek Mill, YFN Lucci, and Chance the Rapper.

He released the hit song Fleek in 2015 and had commercial success with the 2016 single Selfish, which hit the 51st spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

A number of notable names took to Twitter to mourn his death including Drake, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Offset.
