Singer and TV personality Rita Ora slams Twitter, TikTok and Instagram for intruding into celebrities’ privacy
Rita Ora has lamented the loss of mystery around modern stars thanks to social media coverage – despite regularly sharing her life with her 16 million Instagram followers.
The 32-year-old singer and TV personality also blames platforms such as Twitter, TikTok and Instagram for intruding into celebrities’ privacy by detailing every aspect of their lives.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Ms Ora said: ‘I think the mystery is gone. You don’t see massive groups of people crying when a famous person gets into a car, like back in the days when you would see footage of The Beatles getting off a plane.
‘Now people can see what you’re doing all the time. You have Instagram, TikTok, and it’s up to you how much you share, but if you’re not connected, people are like, “Who do you think you are?”’
Ms Ora is one of the most popular British celebrities on Instagram and TikTok, where she has had 24.3 million likes after only joining a little over a year ago.

She also uses social media to promote her music and has been posting about her new album You & I, which is out on Friday.
Last week she shared behind-the-scenes photographs of herself at Paris Fashion Week, as well as a picture of her with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Ms Ora also revealed how she upset her mother, an NHS psychiatrist, by breaking lockdown rules with a party for her 30th birthday at the Casa Cruz restaurant in Notting Hill, West London, in November 2020 when she was joined by stars including the models Cara and Poppy Delevingne.
The scandal led to the loss of 200,000 followers from her Instagram account at the time and generated vast amounts of negative comment across social media.
However, when asked about the incident in her interview she made a humorous reference to Boris Johnson and Partygate, insisting: ‘I’ve said everything I need to say. You should ask Boris Johnson about that.’
