AceShowbizRyan Phillippe managed to put aside his differences with Reese Witherspoon for the sake of their children. Having reunited with his ex-wife to celebrate their son Deacon Reese Phillippe‘s 18th birthday, the “Shooter” star treated fans to some pictures of the sweet moment.

The 47-year-old dad posted the said photos on Instagram on Saturday, October 23. In the snaps, the exes were seen smiling at the camera as they sat next to Deacon in front of his birthday cake.

In the caption, Ryan wrote, “Happy 18th birthday to our gorgeous, smart, talented, and caring son. You are a true light in this world and are so loved by all who know you. We are lucky to be your mom and dad.” He then added, “Love you, pup..(I’d say we did pretty good @reesewitherspoon).”

Although Reese didn’t post the reunion pictures on her own Instagram page, she let out several images of her son throughout the years alongside her heartfelt tribute. “How did this happen?!! @deaconphillippe is 18?!!” the proud mom exclaimed.

The next day, he is taller than me, cooking the family steaks on the grill and making his own music with his best friends. My heart is bursting with pride about the young man he is becoming,” the Oscar winner continued. “Happy 18th Birthday Deacon! I love you to the moon around the sun and all the stars.”

Reese and Ryan, who famously starred together in “Cruel Intentions”, were married from 1999 to 2008. In addition to Deacon, the former couple shares 22-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe.
