Ryan Reynolds and daughter James, 8, look animated as they cheer on Welsh club he owns

Ryan Reynolds enjoyed some quality time with his eldest daughter as he took her to a football match in Wales.

The Green Lantern and Deadpool star, 46, whose wife Blake Lively is expecting the couple's fourth child, is the co-owner of Wrexham Town, a non-league football club based in Wales, along with fellow actor Rob McElhenney.

The club was playing Championship side Sheffield United on Sunday (29 January), and he took his eldest daughter James, 8, who is named after his late father, along with him to enjoy the match.

The pair were photographed looking incredibly animated as they cheered their team, who came incredibly close to knocking out the side three leagues above them before the game ended in a 3-3 draw, forcing a replay in a couple of weeks' time.

Canadian actor Ryan could also be seen taking his daughter on a tour of the football ground prior to kick-off and taking her on the pitch.

While she seemed to be enjoying the football, James was quickly distracted by a cap which she put on her dad's head throughout the game.

Ryan shares two other daughters with wife Blake: Inez, 6, and Betty, 2. While they often keep their kids out of the spotlight, the three protagonists in Taylor Swift's hit single Betty are named after the kids, as the couple are very close friends with US popstar.

In September 2022, the couple announced they were expecting their fourth child as Blake debuted her blossoming bump on the red carpet at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women's Summit at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.

Ryan and Blake are well-known for making jokes about the other on red carpets and social media, and this FA Cup match was no exception, with Blake tuning in from LA to make a dig at her partner.

Posting a picture of her husband and daughter to her Instagram Stories, she wrote: "I bought ESPN+ today. Just to watch my husband experience crippling anxiety live. Worth it. X."

She added: "If you're not watching this insane @wrexham_afc game right now you're missing out on these vibes. They' re playing a team 3 leagues higher. And currently winning. Life makes no sense."

Later on Twitter, Ryan described the match as "one of the most exciting things I've ever seen".

He also delighted fans by appearing on the BBC's coverage before kick-off, being interviewed by Gary Lineker.

Earlier in the week, co-owner Rob said his favourite phrase in football was "squeaky bum time", referring to the tense final minutes of a match.

When asked by Gary what his was, Ryan replied: "My favourite phrase in football… I still don't even know what squeaky bum time is."

He then joked: "I thought it requires antibiotics."
