Coronation Street actor Sam Aston has teased that he could be in for a stint on I’m a Celebrity after previously ruling out reality shows.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, Sam admitted that he’s now “more open” to the idea of taking part in the ITV programme.
He said: “I’ve always said no to all of those shows, but then recently for some reason I've been more open to the idea. Jennie [McAlpine] and Andy [Whyment] did the jungle and both of them said it’s the experience of a lifetime.
"If I was offered it I would be open to the idea and open to the extra pennies!”
While Jennie finished fourth on the 2017 series of the show, Andy was the runner-up to Jacqueline Jossa in 2019.
However, Sam, who has played Chesney Brown on the cobbles since 2003, says the show would be a struggle as he likes him home comforts and he would be “uncomfortable” with being away from his young family for so long.
He added: “I’m a massive home bird, like when I go on holiday after a week I’m ready to come home, I’ve had enough.
"So the idea of going to Australia and not having any contact whatsoever with my family makes me quite uncomfortable.
“It probably sounds quite soft as a lot of people work away, but I’ve never had to. That side of it would be tough. I also don’t really want to be eating pig’s testicles!”
Sam tied the knot with his wife Briony Gardner back in 2019 in a ceremony exclusively covered by OK!.
They then welcomed their first child together, son Sonny, in August last year.
Recently joining OK! for an exclusive photo shoot to introduce their adorable little boy, Sam told us becoming a dad was “an out-of-body experience”.
And as for who has met Sonny out of his Corrie co-stars, Sam says both Dolly-Rose Campbell, who plays his on-screen partner Gemma Winter, and Brooke Viincent have been able to be introduced to the little one.

He said: “We went to a baby brunch with Brooke and Dolly lives near us so she’s seen him on a walk. Because of Covid we’ve had to be so careful and things have only just started easing.
"With filming, things are still distanced and all the rules and regulations are in place.”

But he does admit that a visit to the set in Manchester's MediaCity has yet to happen. “I haven’t taken him into work yet but everyone has seen him on FaceTime.”
