Alexis Ohanian will not tolerate anyone talking about his wife, Serena Williams’, appearance, and he proved it by responding to a man who did just that in a recent interview.
The owner of the Madrid Open tennis tournament, Ion Tiriac, 81, took it upon himself to comment on Serena Williams‘ age and weight in a new interview. “At this age and the weight she is now, she does not move as easily as she did 15 years ago,” the Romanian former tennis star said. “Serena was a sensational player. If she had a little decency, she would retire. From all points of view.”
Serena’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, caught wind of the interview on Twitter, and he was not having it. “Safe to say no one gives a damn what Ion Tiriac thinks,” the Reddit founder tweeted. He also Googled how many Grand Slams Ion had won during his career — and the result was zero. “Turns out my three year old has more Grand Slam victories than this,” Alexis added, with several clown emojis. For the record, Serena has won a total of 23 Grand Slam tournaments throughout the career.
Alexis wasn’t done there, though. While his message about Ion received a lot of praise and support from Serena’s fans, there were also some haters who didn’t agree with his decision to call out Ion. “2021 and no holding back when a racist/sexist clown with a platform comes for my family,” he wrote. Serena did not comment on the situation herself, but it’s clear that her hubby has her back!
Serena and Alexis got engaged in December 2016, and were married nearly a year later, the following November. In April 2017, Serena revealed she was pregnant when she accidentally posted a Snapchat photo of her baby bump. Serena and Alexis’ daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, was born in Sept. 2017.
Although the couple mostly kept Olympia off of social media during the first few years of her life, she has become a staple on both of their pages three years later. Plus, Serena and Alexis even made an account for Olympia herself, where they share more cute photos of her. Family goals!
