Piers Morgan, 56, is currently preparing for the launch of TalkTV for his new presenting job under Rupert Murdoch’s NewsCorp. Ahead of his big career move, the outspoken journalist has now taken to Twitter to reply to a post claiming he deserves an MBE due to his “hard work” in the industry.
I don’t want an MBE.

Piers is known for being a large television personality, having been the face of Good Morning Britain from 2015 to 2021.
His forthcoming appearance on Rupert Murdoch’s TalkTV, which is launching this year, has been highly anticipated by fans.
Piers was quick to react when the Metro recently posted a news story where a psychic predicted what our favourite celebrities have in store for 2022.
About Piers, the psychic said: “I know he’s got the biggest gob in the industry, however he has worked hard, so I feel like there is an award or recognition coming his way. A Bafta or an MBE.”
Piers did not agree with this statement, however, and replied in view of his 7.9 million Twitter followers.
He penned: “Thanks – but I’ve already got a BAFTA and I don’t want an MBE… working journalists shouldn’t accept honours.”
Many social media users were left baffled by Piers’ bold statement, and took to the post’s comments to express their views.
RobertMulhern1 said: “MBE is entry level, you should get a CBE.
“Accept it for all the charity stuff you do in the background that you don’t discuss.”
Nickadams39 added: “But this working journalist, accepted a BAFTA?”
Arsenalkid1970 pointed out: “What about @kategarraway?”
The social media user was referencing Kate winning a National Television Award last year for her touching documentary, Kate Garraway: Finding Derek.
In 2019, Good Morning Britain received two BAFTA nominations for Best News Coverage for their knife crime interview and Thomas Markle exclusive, but failed to win.
That same year, Piers was nominated for the Best Presenter at the 2019 National Television Awards. However, he failed to make the shortlist.
Piers won an award at last year’s Tric Awards for Best Presenter, beating his former co-presenter Susanna Reid.
After losing to Ant and Dec at the National Television Awards, the triumph appeared to delight Piers as he flashed the V-sign while posing proudly with the silverware on Twitter.
He captioned the post: “Victory! @Tricawards #TVPresenterOfTheYear.”
Prior to his big win, Piers was seen reuniting with his Good Morning Britain colleagues Susanna, Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway on the red carpet.
All four presenters look delighted to see each other at the event, which celebrates the best in TV and radio broadcasting.
Piers even slammed last year’s BAFTA TV Awards ceremony on June 6.
In view of his 7.9 million Twitter followers, the former Good Morning Britain star tweeted: “This #BAFTAs is unwatchable, like every other awards show since the pandemic started.”
