Simon Cowell uses a soundboard on America’s Got Talent
Simon Cowell, who is the creator of Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor, has made a rare emotional admission as he described the “worst day of [his] life” in an eye-opening new interview.
The Syco founder has revealed how one of his biggest regrets was that his parents never got to see his dreams come true before they died.
Simon has dreamed of conquering Las Vegas ever since he was a little boy, but sadly hi biggest supporters are not here to witness his triumph.
The usually reserved ITV star has admitted in an interview with the Mirror that he is devastated his parents died before they got a chance to see him achieve his goals.
Now, the 63-year-old music mogul’s America’s Got Talent acts are taking Las Vegas by storm with a sellout residency at the Luxor Resort, and he says his parents would have been “so proud” of what he’s accomplished.

“I just wish my mum and dad were still here to see that,” the father-of-one reflected.
“They would’ve been so proud because I was talking to them when I was a kid about things I’d do in Vegas.
“They knew how much it meant to me so yeah, it’s everything.”

Simon always knew he was destined for a career in show business, following in the footsteps of his music industry executive dad Eric and ballet dancer mum Julie.
Eight years ago, he was heartbroken after Julie sadly died following a stroke, with the star immediately calling off The X Factor auditions that were due to take place in the days afterwards.
16 years before that, Simon lost his dad to a heart attack on the same day he had his first number one in America with boyband Westlife.
Speaking about the difficult time, he admitted: “I can’t lie, it was the worst day of my life. It was a horrible horrible time.”
Simon was made a judge on the first series of Pop Idol, a show that he and the show creator Simon Fuller successfully pitched to ITV, in 2001.
In 2004, he successfully launched the first series of The X Factor, which he starred on as a judge and created himself via his production company, Syco TV.
Simon has been with partner Lauren Silverman since 2013 and the pair share a son named Eric.
