Simon Cowell’s ‘very different’ look sparks concern from The X Factor: Celebrity viewers

The X Factor: Celebrity aired last night (Saturday 12 October) with the likes ofreality star Megan McKenna, journalist Martin Bashir and rugby player Ben Foden taking to the stage to sing.

However the real scene stealer of the evening was judge and show boss Simon Cowell, 60, because people took to social media to claim he looked like a totally different person.

Many found it quite amusing how much the music mogul’s looks had altered since adopting a healthier vegan lifestyle and losing weight, while others were concerned branding him “too gaunt” and “ill”.

One person said: "Mate I can’t get over this is how Simon Cowell looks now surely it’s just a whole different person altogether," alongside some laughing emojis.

However many were alarmed, with one commenting: “Is Simon Cowell ill? He looks awful – really gaunt, scrawny and unhealthy.” While another asked: “Is Simon Cowell okay? Really doesn’t look well!”

The X Factor has returned for the first season of its celebrity edition, but those that have been watching Simon on Britain’s got Talent may be used to his much-altered appearance. The star has recently dropped 20 lbs thanks to his new lifestyle.

His new diet is mainly vegan and denies him all sugar and fatty foods. As Simon explained to Best magazine: “People have said, ‘Oh, he’s had a gastric band fitted’ – but I haven’t. If I had, I would admit to it. This diet is all about what you put into your body. It’s not the Atkins diet or anything else."

The X Factor boss then added: “Within a few weeks, I could see the difference. Cutting out sugar made a massive difference. The first few weeks were difficult, but then I stopped craving sugar. I have also found a brilliant gluten-free beer, which helps.”

It is not just his diet that has changed his look, but some surgical handiwork too. Aside from botox Simon has also admitted to having a non surgical facelift worth £2000. The Silhouette Soft Lift involves sewing bioplastic-infused thread into the face and neck and then pulling so as to get rid of sagging skin.

Simon said of the procedure: “There’s lots of things you can do now. You don’t just have to stuff your face with filler and Botox.” “It hurts like hell but it gets rid of sun damage and unplugs all the crap. For me now, it’s all about having clean skin. If you have clean skin, you look better. But you have to be very careful with some of this stuff.”

But leading cosmetic doctor, Dr Nyla Raja, has speculated to The Sun that his look might also be due to an overload of botox. She said: "I suspect Simon’s fallen complexion is a combination of weight loss and also too much Botox. Injectables don’t need to be overdone and they don’t really need to change your appearance."

Additionally, the music mogul has had extensive dental work according to Dr Guy Barwell of The Implant Centre. "I would estimate that his teeth now are at least 8 shades whiter – probably off the whitening scale," he said, as well as confirming he had veneers.
