Sophie Morgan: ‘I don’t want to be here’ talking about a broken wheelchair
Loose Women panellist Sophie Morgan is “heartbroken” after her car, which was parked outside her friend’s house in London, was broken into and an important attachment for her wheelchair was stolen.
The presenter took to Twitter to break the news to her 18k followers.
“My mobility car has been broken into and my wheelchair attachment, called a Batec, has been stolen,” she wrote.
“It will have NO value to anyone but a manual wheelchair user. I’m heartbroken.
“If anyone saw/sees anything around Camden, London. Pls report it. A small black suitcase was also taken.” (sic)

A Batec is an attachment for a wheelchair that turns it into a mobility hand bike, which is worth £4,000, and Sophie attached a picture to show what it looked like.
Fans were quick to chime in with sympathy for the TV star and author.
@stephilou8 shared her own fears: “All I ever fear is my Tri-ride being stolen, it makes me feel physically sick, I can barely imagine the pain and sadness and anger your going through!
“I keep everything crossed its found! Im planning on buying trackers to attach to mine so I can atleast track it if stolen!” (sic)
A user called @TheBorg99507237 also suggested a tracker while expressing their empathy.

“Heart goes out to you. When you do get it back or a replacement, try & install a tracker & somewhere where it will take them a long time to get it out. This way you will at least have up to an hour before you loose your signal & location of your bike.” (sic)
@DrReemHasan commented: “This is beyond awful and I’m so so sorry. Please start a gofundme page – it does not balance this out properly I know, but there is still good in the world. Hope you are doing OK with support around you.”
Meanwhile @Damon3737 chimed in: “This is terrible. I hope you can get it back or replaced, they are a great bit of kit.”
This is just the latest upset to befall the 38-year-old who has been a wheelchair user since she was 18, after being involved in a car accident that left her paralysed from the chest down.
Earlier this year she criticised British Airways after the Batec attachment was damaged with the airline citing an electrical fault.
Following the incident, Sophie said on social media: “I’m absolutely f****** raging. British Airways have broken my Batec. I arrived at the airport and it was working.
“Now I’m reunited with it off the back of the plane and it’s not working. [It’s got] some kind of electrical fault, it’s not connecting when I turn the key and so what does that tell you? It’s been manhandled.”
However, there was a positive outcome to this incident as it led to a change in the legislation which protects disabled people when travelling.
In June she took to Twitter to announce the good news writing: “Oh. My. God. Just woke up to the news that…
“The U.K. Government ARE going to change the legislation to protect disabled people when we fly!!!!!!! It’s HAPPENING!!!!! Read all about it here,” she added with a link to the government website, before pointing to a highlighted excerpt with the hashtag #RightsOnFlights.” (sic)
