Steve Perry To Release Acoustic Version Of ‘Traces’ Album

Steve Perry is set to release an acoustic version of his 2018 comeback album Traces on December 4.

The former Journey frontman announced the LP during a conversation with Rolling Stone.

“It’s eight songs from the Traces record done acoustically and I’m really proud of it,” Perry said. “It’s called Traces Alternate Versions and Sketches.”

“I cut the vinyl in Abbey Road,” he added. “I’m really pleased with the sonics, and I’m really pleased with the simplicity of the song and the lyric and the chords, which is basically what it’s stripped down to.”

Traces was Perry’s comeback album after leaving Journey in 1998 following a hip injury. His return to music was spurred by the death of girlfriend Kelly Nash in 2012. His previous solo album was 1994’s For the Love of Strange Medicine.

Perry also said that he been busy creating new music since the April release of his cover version of the Beach Boys classic “In My Room.”

“I have a studio and I’m always writing and always recording stuff,” he said. “I have lots of music, so much stuff.”
