Strictly's Gorka Marquez has revealed the reason he’s not taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Live! Tour with his dance partner Helen Skelton.
The professional dancer, 32, is a three-time Strictly finalist, reaching the last stage of the latest series with Helen narrowly losing out to Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal.
Tonight, as he got on a plane to Miami, he answered questions from his 747,000 followers on Instagram.
Replying to one fan about why he won’t be doing the Strictly tour, he explained his absence.
He said: “After the Strictly series I always like to take some down time to spend quality time with Gem and Mia. I am grateful for the work but I also think spending time with family is important.
“Time flys and we won’t get these memories back.”
In a follow up story he shared a smiley snap of him and Helen, who is going to dance with Kai Widdrington on the tour, and urged everybody to support her.
He added: “Please go and watch Strictly Come Dancing Live, [it’s] going to be amazing!!
“And make sure you VOTE for Helen and Kai.”
Later on he hinted he would be returning to next year’s show.
He was asked: “Are you doing strictly next year? You need to win”.
He replied: “I HOPE SO!! I LOVE it and it is the BEST job a dancer could wish for.
“I am grateful to be part of the BEST SHOW ON TV”.
At Christmas Gorka’s partner Gemma Atkinson shot down rumours that he is leaving Strictly Come Dancing after narrowly missing out on the final.
Gorka has been a Strictly professional for seven years and claims began swirling that he was leaving the show after he was pictured looking gutted when he lost in the final again.
But Gemma shared a screenshot of the news story on her Instagtam and said: “Keep being sent this. Wish I hadn’t said to all backstage crew ‘ see you next year’ now.
“Obvs this isn’t true at all! Same as it wasn’t true about Gio last year. Merry Christmas!”
Gorka also revealed his favourite dance of the season, sharing a clip of the Tango he performed with Helen in the semi-finals.
The dance was dubbed her so-called ‘revenge’ dance as she seemingly put a ‘subtle’ middle finger to her ex-husband.
She looked incredible in the dance in a tiny black playsuit and knee-high black boots.
The fiery dance scored them top points and they stole the show that night.
