The nominees for 2023 MTV Video Music Awards have been announced, with Taylor Swift leading the pack with eight nominations.
Swift is up for the artist of the year award, while her megahit “Anti-Hero” has received nomination in the video of the year, song of the year, best pop, best direction, best cinematography, best visual effects and best editing categories.
SZA is the second most-nominated artist this year with six, while Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith have been nominated for five awards each.
For the first time in the VMAs history, all of the nominees for artist of the year are women. They are Swift, Beyonce, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, and Shakira.
Likewise, all but one of the seven nominees for video of the year are women.
Doja Cat’s “Attention,” Cyrus’ “Flowers,” Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl,” Rodrigo’s “vampire,” SZA’s “Kill Bill,” Swift’s “Anti-Hero” and Smith & Petras’ “Unholy” are the seven nominees for the video of the year award.
