Looks like Taylor Swift is already making history with her new surprise album, as Folklore sells more than 1.3 million copies in 24 hours.
The Cardigan singer announced the unexpected album on Thursday, just 15 hours before it’s release and it’s already breaking records.
According to her label Republic Records – a division of Universal Music Group – Folklore hit 1.3 million sales in a day and set a Spotify record for the first day album streams by a female artist, with 80.6 million.
The surprise project has already been making waves among critics and Swifties alike, with many calling this her best album yet.
And Folklore is already leaving it’s mark in the record books after also becoming the most-streamed pop album on Apple Music in 24 hours, scoring over 35 million streams, according to her label.
According to their reports, it’s also set the US and world record on Amazon Music for an indie/alternate album.

Despite not being able to headline Glastonbury this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Taylor did manage to make the most of her lockdown experience recording and completing her eighth studio album, Folklore.
Sharing the exciting release on Instagram, the Shake It Off hitmaker revealed why now was the perfect time for the project’s release.
‘Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.
‘My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with’.
Folklore is available now via Republic Records.
