Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly spoke candidly about life in lockdown on social media yesterday, telling fans she was “still struggling”.

The 51-year-old BBC star said she felt “disconnection” from her normal day-to-day life and was struggling with the “unpredictability” of everything at the moment due the coronavirus pandemic.

Tess took to Instagram yesterday to “check in” with her 512,000 followers and open up about her feelings.

Alongside a picture of herself, she wrote online: “Good morning beautiful people. Just checking in saying hi & wondering how it’s already Friday?”

The mum-of-two, who lives with her husband Vernon Kay, 45, and their children Phoebe, 15, and Amber, 11, went on to speak about her home life in the lengthy post.

She then revealed she had been writing as well as practising yoga and meditation to “get through” lockdown.

The BBC star continued: “Is it just me or does time seem to fly by even MORE quickly when you’ve got so much more of it on your hands?

“Still struggling a bit with the disconnection from my usual routines and the unpredictability of everything at the moment; but have also been focusing on using the time productively and positively (yoga, writing, cleansing the home, cleansing my mind with meditation, tutoring, den making, occasional kitchen dancing…) and keeping the faith that brighter days are hopefully just around the corner.

The television host went on to say: “I feel like we have worked SO hard together to get through this.”

Tess signed off: “Really hope you’re all taking good care of yourselves, sending all the love & positivity I have your way. #fridayfeeling #strongertogether #goodvibesonly.”

Instagram followers and fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many thanking the Strictly star for her honesty.

One user said: “This is a beautiful message! Thank you! I’ve been feeling the same way and this week I’ve been trying to get my mojo again! So thank you! Keep smiling.”

A second fan added: “Thank you so much. It’s important you are acknowledging the current difficulties and what’s helping you, so many of us look up to you with huge fondness and I can’t explain how much you have helped me on a difficult day.”(sic)

“Wow You look very peaceful and stunning! Stay safe,” a third social media user added.

Commenting on her youthful appearance, a fourth fan said: “You’ve got younger during lockdown, you look fabulous Xx.”

Meanwhile, Tess’ Strictly co-host Claudia Winkleman took to the comments section to add lots of red hearts to the post.

  • Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly discuss ‘right time’ to leave Strictly

Earlier in the week, Tess and Claudia came up with an hilarious plan to leave the popular show during a chat on BBC Radio 2.

The pair, who have co-hosted Strictly Come Dancing together since 2014, discussed their exit plan and future careers on the radio when the 48-year-old presenter stepped in for Sara Cox.

On learning that Tess had been doing some DIY around the house with her husband during lockdown, Claudia spoke about their plan.

She said: “I’m not being funny but, you and I have always wondered when the right time to leave Strictly is.”

Tess replied: “I’ve got my sideline lined up already, I’m fully qualified. I’ll fill your holes in the wall.”

The radio host excitedly added: “If you don’t mind, I’m going to be in charge of either marketing or driving the van and if this could be a van that goes round to people’s house… I can see it, it’s an absolute image. Vernon’s hat, it’s called Kay Plasterers.”
