Sir Tom Jones, 80, has insisted that his late wife Linda, who died of incurable lung cancer in 2016, was always “No. 1 in my life”, despite his dalliances during their marriage. The singer has been candid about his well-documented affairs, one of which resulted in his son Jonathan, who he shares with model Katherine Berkery.

However, Tom was quick to slam rumours that the couple had an “open marriage” and revealed that Linda didn’t take too kindly to him “making a move” on other women.

The One More Cup Of Coffee hitmaker, who is preparing to release his new album, Surrounded By Time, this week, opened up on his relationship with Linda in a new interview.

He explained Linda was always “No. 1 in my life.”

The star then revealed when quizzed on his affairs: “Anything else apart from that was nonexistent as far as we were concerned as husband and wife.

“It wasn’t an open marriage, though. No, no, no.”

The Welsh singing sensation also admitted that Linda had a rather painful way of reminding him to behave when they were out and about together.

He recalled: “If I made a move, one squeeze from her and my … It would hurt in a place where you wouldn’t want to hurt.”

Sir Tom also divulged that he is reluctant to consider getting married again after losing his beloved wife.

He told People Magazine: “I was asked the other day, ‘Would you ever get married again?'”

Detailing his response, the Sex Bomb hitmaker said: “I couldn’t, because there’s no history with anybody else.”

Sir Tom and Linda, who were high school sweethearts, tied the knot in 1957 when they were both 16.

Linda was eight months pregnant at the time with their son Mark.

A month later, they welcomed their only child, Mark (Woodward) into the world, who is now Sir Tom’s manager.

At the height of his fame, Sir Tom claimed to have slept with as many as 250 women a year.

Sir Tom previously complained that his sex life had been “talked about so much”.

However, the star insisted it was “not the essence” of who he was.

He said he felt bombarded by questions about how it “affected” his wife and was frustrated that everyone “always brings sex into it”.

Sir Tom told the Big Issue in 2015 that he did not “regret anything” from his life and felt he had done nothing wrong.

He continued: “All in all, no matter what happened, my marriage is still solid and my son still loves me.

“I haven’t done anything bad in my life.”
