Sir Tom Jones, 80, has revealed why he decided to return to the UK, after spending more than 40 years living across the pond in the United States. The Voice UK coach shared he was encouraged by his late wife Linda Woodward before she died, to return to England and reconnect with his family.

Welsh-born Tom spoke on Linda’s advice, as he explained he could not bear to remain in the house they had once shared in Los Angeles.
He said: “I had to get out of the house we had together and try to start again.”
“She told me to come back to Britain, where the family is,” he added to The Telegraph.
He also opened up on the couple’s home life in Pontypridd, Wales, before he became an international star.
Showing the view of his London flat, Tom said: “She would have loved this.”
Indicating the panorama beyond his window, he added “We always had a view, even in Pontypridd; those terraced houses, you were always overlooking something.”
Linda died five years ago after a battle with lung cancer, she and Tom had married after being childhood sweethearts.
The couple tied the knot in 1957 when they were only 16 and went on to have their son Mark Woodward later that year.
Mark is now Tom’s manager and co-produced his new album Surrounded by Time.
When the singer was married to Linda, he admitted to being unfaithful and sleeping with different women.
However, despite his indiscretions, Sir Tom maintained he always saw Linda as the true love of his life
He wrote in his 2015 autobiography that he “never had that feeling for anyone else, I don’t think you can fall in love more than once”.

Tom shared: “She’s the most important thing in my life.
“An unbelievable woman. Linda is the love of my life and she still is, even though she doesn’t look like she used to. I don’t look like I did, either, but I try my best.
“When you’re face to face with somebody, you realise that time has gone on but when you’re on the phone we’re both young again.
“You’re not looking at one another, I’m looking at an old picture I carry around with me and leave by the bed.”
The star shared they had a connection from the first time they laid eyes on each other across their playground at school in Wales as children.
He revealed on Sir Tom’s Musical Years with Cerys Matthews: “We started playing kiss-chase. I felt different when I kissed her, and she felt the same way.
“We started dancing together when we were 15. She would look great. She was the best-looking girl around there and we got together. It was magic.”
