Wayne Rooney has shared a hilarious throwback photo of him and wife Coleen Rooney for Valentine’s Day.
Footballer Wayne, 36, and wife Coleen, 35, started dating as teenagers before getting married in 2008, so there are plenty of photos of the couple together throughout the years.
However, Wayne picked one photo in particular to wish his wife a Happy Valentine’s Day.
In a photo of the couple posted to social media, Wayne and Coleen look much younger as they walk down the street in hot weather, with the couple keeping cool in vest tops and shorts.
However, Wayne can be seen comically eating a giant red lollipop as he walks along, apparently oblivious to his photo being taken.
Wayne’s followers seemed to see the funny side, with footballer Jack Grealish posting a string of laughing face and clapping emojis.
One fan commented: “Greatest picture ever”, while one joked: “Looks like your wife just picked you up from pre school”.
Wayne and Coleen appeared last week at the premiere for their highly-anticipated documentary Rooney, which will see the couple discuss their marriage in detail publicly for the first time.
The couple, who share sons Kai, 11, Klay, eight, Kit, five, and Cass, three, put on a united front at the world premiere of Rooney at an Amazon Prime event last Wednesday, despite some difficult issues from their relationship being discussed in the film.
In the new documentary Coleen is in tears as she discusses Wayne's infidelity, but despite the drama, Coleen and 36 year old England footballer Wayne have remained steadfast ever since they first started dating at the age of 16.
The duo have made the rare decision to voluntarily put their rollercoaster lives in the spotlight in the doc, with Coleen writing on Twitter recently: "I am who I am…. He is who he is …. We are what we are and that’s that!!!!
"Life is for living, life goes on, life is not perfect at all and you know what…. it’s OUR life no one else’s. God bless."
Coleen then hit back at a follower's queries over why she was choosing to broadcast her life to millions of people.
"Because I want to… it’s my life. Enjoy yours xx," she said.
In one clip from the new documentary, Coleen speaks about why she believes Wayne acted in the way he did.
"I think the first time [he cheated] we were young so there was a lot of arguing," she recalls. "I knew groups that Wayne was hanging round with that weren’t good for him.
"Lovely people but together, with alcohol, not good. And I told him that from day one.”
