Wendy Williams Gives the Best Update Possible to All of Her Fans

Wendy Williams is a DJ, writer, actress, and television talk show host. According to her biography, she always stood out. She says she was a big girl who, “spoke too loud, too fast, and too much.”

In college, Williams got involved in radio. After graduation, she bounced around a few stations before starting a call-in radio talk show titled The Wendy Williams Experience.

On it, she revealed painful episodes of her personal life while offering advice and tough love to her callers plus celebrity dirt and interviews. She landed on television with her own show on VH1 and eventually The Wendy Williams Show was picked up by Fox.

It’s no secret that Williams has had a trying couple of years. After all that has happened to her, fans were worried that she couldn’t go on and that her show would be cancelled.

She recently gave them wonderful news.

Wendy Williams’ personal life

After a brief early marriage that ended in divorce, Wendy married her manager, Kevin Hunter. Together, they have one son, Kevin Hunter, Jr. In 2017, rumors began circulating that Hunter had been cheating on her for 10 years with a massage therapist.

That same year, she revealed that she suffers from Graves’ disease, an autoimmune illness that causes anxiety, fatigue, and hair loss.

In early 2018, Williams announced that she needed to take a few weeks off from her show to focus on her health. Apparently, she had suffered a hairline fracture on her upper arm. Later that year, she fainted on set while taping her Halloween show.

She apologized profusely to her fans for not being on her game and promised a brighter 2019.

Then in January 2019, Williams took another leave of absence. She blamed it on the Graves’ disease, but it turns out she had been in rehab dealing with a decades-long cocaine addiction.

To top it all off, it was revealed that her husband’s mistress was pregnant with a child that was probably his. She filed for divorce and fired him as the producer of her Emmy-nominated show.

The threat of cancellation

All this turmoil would throw anyone off balance. Fans began to worry that with all the absences of the host, The Wendy Williams Show would be cancelled.

It had been threatened with cancellation in the past when a petition had circulated claiming the content was too negative and the show should be pulled from the air.

There was even talk of finding a replacement for her. Nick Cannon had filled in for her and was well-received, although he reportedly said that there was only one Wendy Williams, no one could replace her.

The Jerry O’ Show was tested for her time slot, but found to be not strong enough to fill in for Wendy.

The 11th season of The Wendy Williams Show began in late September. During the opening of the season premiere, Williams asked the audience, the crew, and the viewers at home to gather around for a special announcement.

She told them that the show had been renewed through 2022. That’s two more seasons of her sassy responses and bold attitude.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame

After receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this month, Wendy told Jenn Lahmers of Extra TV that she is genuinely happy with her career and the direction it will be taking over the next few years.

She went on to say that all things considered, her personal life has been better than ever. “I’ve got love. I’ve got my family. I’ve got loyal staffers at ‘Wendy.’ I’ve got great bosses at Fox.”

When asked what the young Wendy would think of her today, she said, “You showed them — and stay humble. It’s a pretty heady ride.”
