Westlifes Mark Feehily going bonkers as he shares health update amid pneumonia

Westlife singer Mark Feehily has said he’s going “bonkers” after being forced to pull out of several tour dates due to his pneumonia diagnosis.

The legendary band, which was launched by X Factor’s Louis Walsh back in 1998, has been touring the UK since their first show in Kent back in July.

The show will run in the UK until the New Year before kicking off again in February 2023 with shows in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand.

While recovering at home, the 42 year old Irishman took to Instagram to share a health update with fans.

He said: "Hey Everybody – just dropping in to say HI and a big thanks for all the GWS messages!

"I’m doing good just sticking to the doctors plan, I’m slowly going bonkers being away from the tour and just staying in bed all day but I want to be back on stage asap and the doc is telling me to be patient & recover 100% so I can move on and put it all behind me.”

Mark added: "Lots of love to you all. Hope to see you soon."

Fans shared warm messages in the comments, like Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle, who penned: “Aww Mark!!! I hope you@are feeling better soon!!!

“Sending you lots of love,” wrote singer-songwriter LYRA, as Mark’s bandmate Kian Egan added, “It won’t be long Markie…”

Mark’s absence has seemingly affected fans who were looking forward to seeing him belt some of Westlife’s greatest hits.

“Missed you so much at Liverpool the show was amazing but not the same without you! Please say you will do another show at Liverpool in the future please? And please get well soon, you have always been my favourite singer, love to u,” wrote one fan.

“We missed you last night in Birmingham,” a third person wrote, as a fourth added, “Oh Markey. We miss you too! Rest up and we’ll see you hitting those high notes again soon!!!”

Mark previously thanked fans for understanding why he was forced to pull out of several upcoming shows.

He wrote on social media: "Firstly, I'd like to say a huge sincere thank you to everybody for sending their and get well soon messages – it means so much. I was really gutted to miss the weekend shows in Newcastle but I started to feel quite unwell on Friday and doctors have confirmed that it is a bout of pneumonia.”

Mark then said that "everything is currently under control" and "he feels better every day.”

"I have been informed that the quickest way to recovery is to rest and continue the antibiotics. I'm feeling a bit better everyday. The nurses and motors are taking amazing care of me so it should all be over in no time."

It’s not yet known when Mark will return to the stage, as he told followers that he needs the “all clear” first.

"This does, however, mean missing more gigs which is horrible but I'll be back on stage as soon as I get the all clear," he said.

"Until then, Nicky, Shane and Kian will continue to fly the Westflife flag high for all of us. Please scream even louder than usual for those three legends in my absence! Sending love to you all, I hope to see you back on the road very soon!"
