What Is 'Ozark' Star Jason Bateman's Famous Sister Doing Now?

Ozark star Jason Bateman began acting when he was a child and continued his career into adulthood. His older sister Justine Bateman, who has also acted since she was a teenager, tried her hand at a few other things in recent years away from the cameras.

Here’s more on what she’s been up to.

Justine Bateman starred on the ’80s sitcom ‘Family Ties’

Bateman was born on Feb. 19, 1966, in Rye, New York to Victoria and Kent Bateman.

At the age of 16, she was cast as Mallory Keaton in the sitcom Family Ties alongside Michael J. Fox who played her on-screen brother Alex P. Keaton. She starred in the show for its entire run from 1982 to 1989. During that time she also landed a lead role in the movie Satisfaction with Julia Roberts and Liam Neeson.

In 1996, Bateman starred in one season of the comedy Men Behaving Badly. After that, she did a number of guest appearances and had several reoccurring TV roles including the part of Ellie Leonard in Desperate Housewives.

Bateman is a now a wife, mother, writer, and director

Bateman married her partner Mark Fluent in 2001 and they have two children, Gianetta Fluent and Duke Kenneth Fluent.

The TV star didn’t attend college after high school because of her contractual obligations with Family Ties. So in 2016, she enrolled in UCLA and earned a degree in computer science and digital media management.

Bateman began working behind the camera as a writer and director. Her first short film titled Five Minutes, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. She also wrote an episode of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place and in 2021, directed Violet starring Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux, and Luke Bracey.

Additionally, she has served on the National Board of Directors of the Screen Actors Guild, established a clothing design company, and became a licensed pilot of single-engine planes. But that’s not all.

She’s a best-selling author too and doesn’t ever want to change herself

Bateman has authored two books as well. She followed up her best-selling Fame: The Hijacking of Reality with the 2021 release of a book about aging titled Face: One Square Foot of Skin.

Bateman spoke to Page Six about her stance on plastic surgery. She said: “Why is the idea that women’s older faces are undesirable, what is the root of all that. How did we get here and more importantly — and the thing that really bothers me — is how did we get to this point in our current society where cutting your face up, or injecting it, or inserting plastic or whatever is spoken about so matter-of-factly.

“Let’s say I had an opportunity to get plastic surgery. And it was guaranteed it would come out great. I can pull my face to see what that would look like and it would make me feel like, ‘Oh my God, I’m erasing the last 30 years of my life’ … I guess it comes down to you have a limited time on earth. How do you want to spend it? We’re all going to die.”
