Will Kris Jenner's Grandchildren Ever Be Able to Step Out of the Spotlight?

It’s one thing for celebrities to choose to chase a life of fame and fortune, but it gets more complicated when their kids are involved. That’s definitely the case for the Kardashian-Jenner family and the many children who are now getting old enough to feel the pressure of a life in the spotlight.

Is it possible for these children to grow up without every move they make becoming headline material? If they want to step out of the spotlight and have a more normal life, will they even get that option?

There are now several children in the Kardashian-Jenner family

The oldest of Kris Jenner’s famous grandchildren is Mason Disick. Currently 10 years old, he’s the son of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, and his life has certainly been one in the spotlight.

Since his parents’ tumultuous relationship has grabbed headlines for years, it will be very difficult for him to step away from the attention. His recent TikTok videos suggest he might be embracing his life as an entertainer.

While Mason Disick may be the child old enough to really be aware of his fame, he’s closely followed by his little sister Penelope, who turns 8 in July, and North West (daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West), who will soon be 7. Meanwhile, Reign Disick (5), Saint West (4), Dream Kardashian (3), Chicago West (2), Stormi Webster (2), True Thompson (2), and Psalm West (almost 1) are all growing up fast and will surely notice their celebrity status soon.

All children of celebrities have to face scrutiny beyond what’s typical in a childhood, but some celebrity parents work really hard to keep their kids out of the spotlight.

That’s certainly not the case for the Kardashian-Jenner family. Since their fame comes primarily from showcasing their own lives (rather than from acting or singing work as is the case for most celebrities), it’s very difficult to untangle their children’s lives from their own.

The long-running reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians has shown the ups and downs of many relationships and taken a peek into the realities of parenting. Mason Disick, in particular, has had an important role on the show, and fans have literally watched the little boy grow up.

Kourtney Kardashian found out she was pregnant in Season 1 of the reality program, and his birth was even broadcast to the world.

Stepping out of the spotlight will be difficult

The “Karjenner” babies, as the children are sometimes called, were the topic of speculation in a recent Reddit thread. Commenters wondered just how these children would fare as they grew up.

Inevitably, some of them will want a quieter life than their parents had, and it’s worth questioning if that life is even possible for such famous people.

Commenters in the thread were already trying to predict career paths for the kids. One suggested that North West would “do something in music/fashion” and that Mason Disick would “try and rap but will ultimately float between careers.” While most of the predictions centered around the fashion, entertainment, and music worlds, some commenters recognized the potential limitations these kids face.

“I have to say I feel a bit sorry for them (bear with me) as in they probably have just a certain array of options for their future career due to their upbringing and status of fame. They probably will never be able to be “more” than model, influencer, designer (specific creative career). Going to uni and becoming a teacher or doctor or getting a PhD in art history or whatever, I don’t see it,” wrote one commenter.

If any of the children do choose to live a more normal life, they won’t be the first celebrities who have gone from headline-grabbing superstars to relative obscurity. Plenty of celebrities have stepped away from a life of fame in order to live a quieter, more normal life, and it’s possible that these famous children could make the same choice someday.
