Prince Harry's memoir hasn't been particularly kind to Prince William, with the younger sibling going as far as to describe how the Prince of Wales allegedly physically attacked him during a row.
And when recalling the first meeting between William, 40, and Meghan Markle, Harry wrote that his brother "recoiled" after the former actress, 41, went to hug him.
Describing the moment as a "classic collision of cultures", Harry, 38, wrote: "I introduced Meg, who leaned in and gave him a hug, which completely freaked him out. He recoiled."
Continuing, Harry said that while his brother very rarely hugged any strangers, Meghan would regularly do so, causing a bit of confusion between the pair.
Looking back on the introduction Harry said that he wondered if William had expected Meghan to curtsey upon meeting him, which is the usual protocol for meeting a royal for the first time.
The Duke of Sussex wrote: "Maybe Willy expected Meghan to curtsey? It would've been protocol when meeting a member of the Royal Family for the first time, but she didn't know, and I didn't tell her."
Explaining that while Meghan was still expected to curtsey for his grandmother, the Queen, Harry felt that it wasn't necessary when meeting his brother because "it was just Willy, who loved Suits."
Since their rather awkward meeting, the relationship between Meghan and William only appears to have worsened.
In his interview with Tom Bradby, Harry was asked if his brother ever tried to convince him against marrying Meghan.
To which he responded: "He never tried to dissuade me from marrying Meghan, but he aired some concerns, err very early, and said you know, 'This is gonna be really hard for you’ and I still to this day don’t truly understand which part of what he was talking about.
"Um, but maybe, you know, maybe he predicted what the British press’s reaction was gonna be."
Discussing the frosty relationship between the Waleses and the Sussexes, royal expert Katie Nicholl, said: "I remember speaking to my sources when I was researching my book about those early meetings [between William and Meghan], and being told that William did find her a big personality, and clearly, Meghan said she went in for the hugs and everything else."
She continued: "She'd expected the formality that she recognised in them as a royal couple sort of not be extended behind the closed doors of Kensington Palace, and in fact it was, and so, I think our suspicions about this being a pretty cool relationship right from the start have been confirmed here."
Speaking of the clear difference between Kate Middleton, 40, and Meghan, Katie added: “I think it also confirms what we've always known, which is that Meghan and Kate are two very, very different women, but that's why they were never going to be best friends,
"Meghan, she interpreted that as coolness, but as far as Kate is concerned, it's not natural for her to go and give a great big bear hug to someone that she hasn't met before. So again, I think those sort of cultural clashes were clearly there, and I think [it's] just different people here."
