7 Types Of Dudes You Meet At Any Summer BBQ

1.Grill dude.

The king of the castle. Your boy bought the grill basically so that the friend group has to come to his place. He might not be the best griller, but he plays the part well, saying “grillin’ season” a lot like it’s a thing.

2.Grill-adjacent dudes.

As if using some sort of science-fiction tractor beam, the grill attracts two or three well-meaning fellas who are not actively grilling, but just standing around watching the grill dude work, nodding attentively and occasionally spouting off advice they got from some cooking show on TV.

3.Lawn-game dude.

This guy brought what looks like an axe handle and tells you it’s for a lawn game you’ve never heard of called “Finarfin” or something. Everyone agrees they grew up playing “Finarfin” as kids and you’re the weirdo for not knowing about it. Halfway through the game you’ll realize you’ve been on teams this whole time? Anyway, you don’t get the game, but you like his energy.

4.“Anyone need a drink?” dude.

This is a good dude. He’s constantly just about to get up to go inside. Do you need anything? Are you sure? He can make two trips if he has to.

5.Firepit dude.

It’s 2 p.m. and 80 degrees out, but this dude really wants to get a fire going. He’s a good hang, but you don’t see him much during the cookout because he’s rifling through the neighbor’s trash looking for “kindling.”

6.Music dude.

This buddy of yours is very concerned about the vibes. He believes the good vibes be better, and the answer lies in his playlist titled “Memorial Day 2015” he saved onto his phone. He didn’t pay for the premium version of his app so you have to listen to ads all day, but honestly, the playlist does indeed slap.

7.Dog dude.

The best kind of dude is one who is a dog. You may refer to him as “good boy.”
