Ayda Field wishes she had met Robbie Williams sooner than she did to spare her a slew of unsuitable partners.
The 43-year-old model tied the knot with the former Take That star, who was renowned for being one of pop’s most eligible bachelors, in 2010 after four years of dating.
The happy couple now share four children together Theodora, 10, Charlton, seven, Coco, three and Beau, two, but despite being together for more than a decade, Ayda said she would have loved to have met the 48-year-old earlier.
The former actress wondered why she had to go through a string of failed romances beforehand even though it would have been a ‘different story’ had they met at any other time.
Ayda said on her Postcards From the Edge podcast: ‘There’s something that someone told me once which I have to remind myself when I have doubt and fear is like what’s meant for you doesn’t pass you by.
‘So hard to remember that sometimes when you want to control a situation or there’s an outcome you want and it’s not happening. You think, I’m going to bend this to my will or that was meant for me and I’ve lost this thing that I was supposed to have.
‘Robbie and I talk about it sometimes that, you know, God I wish we’d met sooner.’
Ayda continued: ‘Why did I have to go through all those d***heads? Why did you have to sleep with all those supermodels? But why didn’t we start this earlier?
‘But honestly, I really think that Rob would have completely f*** it up if I met him earlier. It would have been a completely different story. We were meant to be when we were meant to be.’
Ayda had previously joked that her sex life with the Rock DJ star was ‘completely dead’ and described their bed as a ‘communal workspace.’
Speaking on an earlier episode of her podcast, she explained: ‘When there was romance, when that happens, yes, there would be a communal sleeping place just out of physical need.
‘But now that that’s completely dead. It’s been obliterated by four kids. There is really no need to go to bed at the same time. It’s just a joint workspace now.
‘I might as well make the bed like a ping pong table and we could just play every now and then. And then stray off into other corners to sleep. I think that’s what it is – it’s a WeWork space.’
