Blur frontman Damon Albarn 'splits' from 'devastated' partner after 25 years

Blur frontman Damon Albarn and his partner Suzi Winstanley have split after 25 years together, according to reports.

The couple – who never married – got together in 1998.

They also share a daughter called Missy, who is now 23.

It’s said Suzi, an artist, is ‘devastated’ by the split, although the circumstances surrounding the rumoured separation remain unclear.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Suzi, 55, asked Damon, also 55, to leave their home in Notting Hill.

A source told the outlet: ‘Suzi is heartbroken at their relationship ending.

‘Even though they have been living in the showbiz bubble where so many couples struggle, they had been together for a very long time.’

The insider added: ‘It is a really sad time for everyone involved.’

Following the news, The Mail also reported that Damon penned lyircs about his marriage ending on Blur’s new album

Titled The Ballad of Darren, the number one album was written as his relationship with Suzi was ending.

The publication claimed that Damon was ‘not in the best of places’ while working on it.

One song in particular, named Goodbye Albert, includes the lyrics: ‘Goodbye to you and me, goodbye to the shallows like refugees singing, crossed the world, we disappeared, and no one looks to see if we are coming back soon, I was not ready yet.’

He later sings: ‘I stayed away, pulled inside, why don’t you talk to me anymore? Don’t punish me.’

It’s said that Suzi is now unable to listen to the record without becoming upset, with a source claiming it’s ‘too sad’ for her.

One of her friends told MailOnline that she was ‘shocked to learn quite how deeply he wrote about their relationship.’

‘Some of the songs are very emotional for Damon, they were written at a time when he wasn’t in the best of places, at a time when he wasn’t happy,’ they said.

It’s understood that Damon and Suzi split up months ago.

However, Suzi was spotted in the crowd cheering Damon on earlier this month when he performed at London’s Wembley Stadium in a real career milestone.

The music star played in the 90,000-strong venue on July 8, with an extra date added the following night due to overwhelming demand.

Depsite their lengthy and successful career, the gigs marked the first time Damon and his bandmates – Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree – played at the iconic venue.

Reps for Damon Albarn have been contacted for comment.
