Britney Spears has branded welfare checks a ‘joke’ in a frustrated post after sparking concern over a video in which she danced with knives.

The 41-year-old previously posted a video where she danced and performed some of her signature moves, all while brandishing two huge kitchen knives.

She explained that the knives were not real, but this didn’t stop worried fans from contacting the police.

A welfare check was carried out on the singer, who recently split from partner Sam Asghari, and determined she was not in any danger.

Britney did apologise for ‘spooking’ fans with the seemingly real knife-wielding moves but her latest update suggests things haven’t calmed down since the police visited her home.

‘Is it a joke in the news again with welfare checks??? Come on America … we cooler than that, right ???’ she wrote on Instagram, paired with a picture of a ballerina balancing on knives.

Britney continued: ‘The officers came to my home and said they would not leave until they spoke to me as people do 4 minute performances with them. I am getting an apology.

‘I’ve been bullied in my home for so long now…ITS ENOUGH! Don’t talk about it, come on, let’s DO !!!

‘As my mom does the silent treatment when paps ask questions about her own daughter as if I’m in the wrong…nope it’s an old game. People need to be responsible for their actions! It’s about power for cops.’

Despite the Toxic chart-topper making it clear the knives were not real, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department got a call from a worried follower in the wake of the first video.

A law enforcement insider told TMZ, that officers were dispatched to her property where they were able to speak to her and determined that she was totally fine.

Britney claimed she was inspired by Shakira and wanted to push her performances to the next level.

Hours before posting the knife update, Britney shared a message about social media and it’s impact on her mental health.

She said she was trying to look at it from a more positive angle and declared: ‘Who cares, nothing is real.’

Britney, while discussing the book Uglies, added: ‘I know what it’s like to be demoralised and embarrassed. I’m very sensitive and incredibly hard on myself. I have social anxiety and do equine therapy with horses !!!

‘The fact that anyone would patronise people who aren’t as pretty disgusted me, especially having the other side of the table actually listening and nodding as if it’s even a necessary topic. Nobody is probably reading this, but hopefully most can understand where I’m coming from.’

She then posted another dancing video, knife-free this time, sharing a song and writing: ‘When people are truly traumatised, it’s hard to stay present.’
