Following his recent Avatars collection with Avant Arte, Christian Rex van Minnen is back to release his first screenprint in over 10 years.
Parallax is based on an earlier oil painting he made and revisits the artist’s penchant for still-lifes. Using a centuries-old Venetian painterly technique, Minnen trades traditional objects, such as fruits, for an eccentric blend of contemporary items, most notably gummy sweets.
Born in Rhode Island, but now based up in Santa Cruz, Minnen deploys his knowledge of art history to create beautifully grotesque creations that reference everything from death metal and pornography to New Age mysticism, meme culture and tattoos.
To fulfill Minnen’s desire to offer a broader audience the opportunity to collect his work, the print will be available for $586 USD during a 24-hour timed release on February 22, 2022 at 7am EST. Please visit Avant Arte for more information.
