While watch collectors are known to mine specific niches by buying into single brands, specific complications or certain design styles, the 12 lot sale coming up at Bonhams New York next week puts most of them to shame in its specificity.
The single-owner collection going under the hammer features 11 New Old Stock (NOS), never worn Ref 116610LV Rolex Submariner ‘Hulk’ models – one from each year it was offered between 2010 and 2020.
The twelfth lot is a limited edition quarter-scale (approx. 2.5 ft) ‘Hulk’ statue by NMK Studios, which is offered at no reserve, with an estimate of $2,000 – $3,000 USD.
“We are excited to offer unworn examples of the Rolex Hulk in a sale concept not seen before, allowing collectors to get their hands on what can only be described as discontinued but new watches,” says Nate Borgelt, head of department, Bonhams Watches America. “In the current market, where obtainability and condition are king, these Hulks check all the boxes for discerning collectors and daily wearers alike.”
Each example is accompanied by “their Rolex boxes, papers and receipts.”
The online sale opens on Friday 12 August at Bonhams with estimates ranging from $30,000 – $40,000 USD to $40,000 – $60,000 USD for the 2010 watch.
