Commonwealth is celebrating 15 years in Washington, D.C. by moving its flagship location in the city to the heart of the historic U Street Corridor and hosting a pop-up with DMV-based brand Vandy the Pink. Designed by Los Angeles-based fashion and architecture firm wrk-shp, the new store spans 1700 square feet and is in the same building as D.C.’s famous Black Cat Concert Hall.
Upon entering the airy, white-walled store, visitors are greeted by a tile-coated structure that showcases new products and features a real cactus in its middle. Racks of clothes are placed on the left and right side alike, while sneakers take up residence in the rear of the store on concrete “steps.” Brands available in Commonwealth D.C. include Dime, Engineered Garments, Carpet Company, visvim, Museum of Peace and Quiet and others.
As mentioned above, Commonwealth will also welcome Vandy the Pink for a two-day pop-up on August 21 and August 22. Vandy’s footwear and accessories will be available alongside special collaborative products.
Commonwealth D.C. is located at 1811 14th Street NW, Washinton, D.C. 20009. It’s open from 12 PM to 5 PM seven days a week.
