Tremaine Emory‘s Denim Tears has announced its latest drop: a restock of its popular Chuck 70 Hi collaboration with Converse and a new “Tears, Flags and Caskets” apparel capsule. Both the shoes and the apparel feature the signature black, red and green hues, stars and stripes of artist David Hammons‘ iconic African-American Flag, but apply its motifs in a different fashion.
Identical to the original release from collar to outsole, the restocked Chuck 70 nevertheless features one striking new detail on the inside of its tongue. There, Hammons’ signature is printed in white for a direct callout to the artist who inspired the design. The “Tears, Flags and Caskets” capsule consists of hoodies and tees, based around a famous black and white image from Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1968 funeral. Each either uses the image for a chest print or an all-over graphic, and all add the colors of Hammons’ banner to the American flag laying over King’s casket.
The Denim Tears x Converse Chuck 70 Hi restock and “Tears, Flags and Caskets” release will go down on Denim Tears’ webstore come January 19 at 9am PST (12pm EST).
Elsewhere, Tremaine Emory’s contemporary Virgil Abloh has teased seven new Off-White™ x Nike sneakers on his Public – – – Domain website.
