For the SS22 season, Drôle de Monsieur showcased that lounging and looking good go hand-in-hand. Creative directors Maxime Schwab and Dany Dos Santos utilized modern and vintage themes to create their ideal holiday wardrobe, emphasizing how street style always enhances bourgeois aesthetics.
For a large part of the collection, the duo revisited the golf uniform, characterized by argyle patterns, polo shirts and cricket knits. Pleated trousers and below-knee length shorts utilize warm brown, beige, green and the occasional cool dark blue to foster versatility for any outfit. The bottoms were complimented by an oversized, striped v-neck sweater, silk button down, cotton shirts and more, implementing a modern silhouette with a streetwear twist.
The tracksuit also returned to the collection, utilizing both technical fabrics and luxe iterations in tweed and houndstooth. Overall, the collection’s color palette moves from white and green, inspired by the Chesterfield Hotel in Palm Beach, to bright argyle patterns and bright grape print seen on summer knits. The brighter colors were developed as a homage to Schwab and Dos Santos’ hometown of Dijon, France.
With the collection, 80’s preppy style fuses with 90’s sportswear ethics to create a relaxed offering that dances between leisure and sophistication. Expect to see the pieces from this collection in the coming months on Drôle De Monsieur’s website.
