ferm LIVING and Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng Release Sculptural Dal Piece

Copenhagen retailer ferm LIVING partnered with Oslo-based product design and artist, Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng to create the Dal Piece — a unique and intriguing object that doubles as furniture and a sculpture. The basis of the collaboration stems from Øfstedal Eng’s creative disciplines. Through her sculptural works that explore the boundaries of art and functionality, many of her works also serve as furniture and interior objects.

Having previously collaborated on pieces like Mord and Rotben, the two parties continue to explore Øfstedal Eng’s quirky aesthetics using recycled materials. Composed of recycled casted aluminum, Dal Piece takes on a table-like silhouette that’s furnished with non-uniforming curves and rounded edges all over. Øfstedal Eng explained that she was “moved by the brutal aesthetic of a mountainside found in Gudbrandsdalen,” where “the slow trickle of water had assiduously eroded the hard rock, carving out a distinct stone cave with captivatingly curved walls.” “It is this organic form that inspired both the curvy, rounded shapes and the name of the Dal Piece,” she added.

Intended for outdoor use, the Dal Piece retails for $1,616 USD and is expected to arrive in stores this September. In the meantime, those who are interested can sign up for notifications via ferm LIVING’s official web store.
