If you’ve spent any amount of time on Instagram or TikTok recently, you’ve undoubtedly seen the viral videos of Jessica Alba and her eldest child, daughter Honor Marie Warren, dancing, twinning, hamming it up and, in general, just being one of Hollywood’s most adorable mother-daughter duos. Now that Honor is on the cusp of her teen years — she turned 12 on June 7 — we’ll probably be seeing even more of this charismatic celebrity kid. And TBH, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
For fans who’ve been following Alba’s family since the beginning, it likely feels surreal to see Honor as a full-blown tween. Remember when she was born back in 2008? It was a big year for Alba and film producer Cash Warren, who eloped when Alba was nine-months pregnant with baby Honor. With her birth, Honor kick-started the Alba-Warren family, which would soon after grow to include little sis Haven Garner Warren (born Aug. 13, 2011) and little bro Hayes Alba Warren (born Dec. 31, 2017).
Who could have known that a chance meeting between Alba and Cash on the set of 2004’s Fantastic Four would lead to all of that joy? Or that their firstborn child would turn out to be such a cool little personality? To that end, join us in getting to know Honor even better with these interesting facts about the now-12-year-old.
She and Alba like to twin it
Could they be any cuter? In the midst of the coronavirus quarantine this April, Alba and Honor found the perfect way to stay entertained: TikTok. The dynamic duo churned out quite a few viral vids during that time, but our favorite has to be the one they created while celebrating Alba’s April birthday. Clad in identical outfits of brown bikinis, oversized boyfriend shirts and sun hats, they grooved to ZaeHD and CEO’s “Hustle & Flow.” Captioned Alba, “Honor taught me this new dance @TikTok. We didn’t bicker as much and spent quality time together.”
She goes to therapy with her mom

Speaking at Her Campus Media’s eighth annual Her Conference in Hollywood last year, Alba revealed that she and Honor attend therapy so that Alba can “learn to be a better mother to her and communicate better with her.” She explained, “I didn’t grow up in an environment where you talked about this stuff, and it was just, like, shut it down and keep moving… So, I find a lot of inspiration just in talking to my kids.”
She’s a Gemini

The Alba-Warren family obviously puts stock in astrology — in 2019, Alba debuted a new arm tattoo that features constellations of each of her children’s birth signs. June-born Honor’s? Gemini. Per Horoscope.com, Geminis are smart, passionate, dynamic, quick-witted and have a natural duality that makes them highly adaptable. Hm, sounds like Honor would do well following in her mom’s famous footsteps!
She thinks her mom’s cool (and a little cringey)
While filming a video for their mom’s YouTube channel in April, Honor playfully gave her mom a hard time. Alba began, “As we are on lockdown over the next who-knows-how-long, I think I am really inspired to create this community with you guys and connect with y’all. So, that’s what this is about: totally unfiltered approach to all the things in the honest life we are living over here.”
But when Alba picked up on her daughters’ facial expression, she asked if she was being lame — and younger sister Haven confirmed. Honor gave her mom a bit more credit, saying, “It would be lame if a kid was doing it, but, like, since you’re a mom it doesn’t matter,” she sweetly explained, adding, “Moms are cool.” Of course, mere moments later she admitted Alba was “kind of cringey” on TikTok. You win some, you lose some.
She’s already a travel pro

Her dance skills and fashion sense definitely aren’t the only traits Honor inherited from her mom. She also got a healthy dose of wanderlust from Alba! In 2018, the pair took a dreamy mother-daughter vacation to Italy together, hitting up popular tourist spots like Michaelangelo’s David sculpture. They even took a cooking class together in Florence, giving the rest of us a serious case of FOMO.
She lets her mom DIY her hair
Not every tween would be down with their mom cutting their hair, but Honor was game to let Alba give it a try during lockdown. In a video shared to her YouTube channel, Alba confessed, “I bow down to hairdressers. That is really not easy at all. Especially with impatient kids who are not trying to sit still.” That tracks, considering Alba managed to cut herself “a few times” while blending Honor’s layers — despite having celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin on the line to walk her through it.
She’s a budding artist

While it’s clear she takes after her mama, Honor also apparently inherited talent from elsewhere in the family gene pool. Chatting with InStyle in 2017, Alba shared, “My grandmother has two brothers, Marciano and Richard Martines, who are artists… when I became a parent, creative projects were one of the first ‘Mommy and me’ things the girls and I did.” She even enlisted her daughters to create artwork for her home office — Honor went with “rainbows and galaxy explosions” for her pieces.
“They’re both pretty expressive, but they’re drawn to different things,” Alba said. “I love having their art around my office and our home. I don’t paint or sculpt, so I’m so happy that my kids got the Martinez creative gene.”
She inspired The Honest Company

Although Alba has attributed her inspiration for The Honest Company to both of her daughters, she got more specific while speaking with WebMD. “When I was pregnant with Honor, I tried to find the healthiest versions of everything. I knew I wanted one brand that I could trust, because there was so much confusion in the marketplace. I felt like the more I read, the more confusing and difficult it was to find the best-quality products. So much is marketed to parents and I just felt like, ‘Do you need this blanket and that blanket, this thing and that thing?’” Alba said, revealing, “I did so much research and hit a lot of walls and was so frustrated, so I decided I had to do it myself.”
She’s a self-professed nerd

Talking to Kelly Ripa in 2016, Alba couldn’t help gushing about how her brainy girl is into “nerdy things.” She explained, “[Honor] was like, ‘So, Mom, I’m not like one of those girls that wears pink, and only wants to twirl in a dress, and cares about getting married. I’m more the girl who wants to play tennis and always has my hair in my face…and I don’t talk that much, and I really like to do science.’” Alba’s response? “I was like ‘Cool!’
She’s well-rounded

Honor is one busy little bee! Speaking to SheKnows in 2018, Alba revealed that her eldest child goes to math camp, takes Spanish, and has a tutor. Her extracurriculars aren’t strictly academic, though. In addition to playing tennis, said Alba, “Honor likes to do musical theater, so she does voice lessons.”
