Los Angeles rapper J. Stone recently put out a new album, The Definition of Success. The project features guest appearances from rap heavyweights such as Bun B, Xzibit and Dave East.
Also on the list of artists is the late Nipsey Hussle. The track is called “Foundation” and was produced by none other than Hit-Boy.
In an interview with The Bootleg Kev Podcast, per HipHopDX, Stone shared that he and Hussle had started working on the single back in 2018.
“Y’know, we just spiced up the beat just a little bit, y’know what I mean, ’cause it’s 2023 now, so, y’know, we made it make sense,” he said.
Hussle contributes, meanwhile, appears on the song’s chorus, acting as the intro to Stone’s hook.
“First you got to pay dues / Then you got to make moves,” Hussle raps. “And you know the game test you / You just gotta stay true.”
