Holly Willoughby 'avoided This Morning loss and ex co-star Eamonn Holmes'

Holly Willoughby reportedly opted to skip the Tric Awards and avoided losing out to A Place In The Sun and a reunion with Eamonn Holmes who, in past weeks has been making his views on the This Morning host heard loud and clear.

Holly, 42, wasn’t spotted at the prestigious ceremony on Tuesday, after spending the weekend with her husband Dan Baldwin at Glastonbury.

Since This Morning scored best daytime show at the Television and Radio Industries Club Awards last year, scandal has erupted at the ITV programme, with Phillip Schofield resigning after admitting he had an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair.

GB News presenter Eamonn has been vocal about the ‘toxic’ atmosphere at the
This Morning, which he and his wife Ruth Langsford used to present, having branded Holly a ‘big mouth’ and called Schofield a ‘liar’.

According to sources, that’s one of the reasons Holly didn’t attend, despite the likes of her ITV co-stars such as Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis being present.

An insider shared: ‘If you were Holly you wouldn’t have gone, would you?

‘Not only would you have come face to face with Eamonn but you would have had to go through the humiliation of losing out to A Place in The Sun.’

They added to Mail Online: ‘It was all very different to this time last year when Holly and Phil turned up, big smiles on their faces, and were the toast of the do.’

It was elsewhere reported that the mum-of-three missed out because of other commitments.

Regular This Morning contributor Vanessa Feltz, as well as Lorraine and Good Morning Britain’s Dr Hilary Jones also attended the swanky three-course dinner and awards show.

Meanwhile, This Morning’s editor Martin Frizell as well as hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond didn’t appear to be there, as Eamonn, 63,  who was using crutches following back surgery, appeared in good spirits making his way down the pink carpet at London’s Grosvenor House.

This comes after Holly appeared to ‘hit back’ at some of Eamonn’s explosive claims during a recent appearance on This Monring.

In one of his bombshell interviews, Eamonn accused Holly and Schofield of being ‘drunk’ while presenting This Morning and claimed Holly was ‘using’ Alison, and said that neither Holly nor Schofield knew the names of people behind the scenes of This Morning.

‘People would avoid him in the corridor. He didn’t look at anybody, he didn’t know anybody’s names. Holly doesn’t know people’s names either. This is legendary within the production team, that how distant they are and how they just don’t care,’ Eamonn said during his explosive interview with Dan Wootton.

During last Tuesday’s This Morning however, Holly appeared to prove that claim wrong, as she pointed out one cameraman’s name in particular, during a chaotic segment with Gino D’Acampo.

Despite the show appearing to return back to normality, This Morning missed out on winning the daytime award, which went to Jonnie Irwin’s A Place In The Sun.

Meanwhile, Peaky Blinders scored best drama and Gogglebox picked up the gong for entertainment.

The Chase, Piers Morgan, Nigel Farage and Roman Kemp were also crowned winners for best game show, interview of the year, news presenter and radio personality respectively.

Jonnie made a rare public appearance amid his terminal cancer diagnosis, having announced in November that he had ‘months to live’.

The 49-year-old looked at ease, as he smiled with his co-stars in a grey shirt, khaki jacket, and cool shades for the Television and Radio Industries Club awards, arm in arm with his friends.

Jonnie also posted a video from the event, in which Uptown Funk can be heard being played from the stage, seemingly by Fleur East.

Speaking at the event on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, he told The Mirror: ‘Today is a good day. Yesterday I peeled myself out of bed and munched painkillers but so far so good today.

‘I take every day as a gift and as it comes.’

Metro.co.uk has approached Holly’s reps for comment.
