When Luke and Lucie Meier were appointed as the new creative directors of Jil Sander back in 2017, it was seen by many as a last-ditch attempt at restoring the German fashion house’s reputation as a leader of minimalism in the world of menswear.
After years of directional change, the husband and wife duo came in following the resignation of Rodolfo Paglialunga, bringing with them a plethora of industry experience from the likes of Supreme, Dior and OAMC, that would see the brand instantly gifted a new lease of life.
Fast forward to today, and the label unveils its Spring/Summer 2022 menswear offering in what’s arguably the pair’s finest Jil Sander collection to-date.
Exploring the relationships between materials, colors, shapes and volume, the campaign is a celebration of personal style and freedom. Japanese wool jackets, shirt-jackets and coats are straight and voluminous, while overdyed cotton and linen flight suits with removable sleeves and comfortable utility trousers can be found under sleek overcoats.
Personality is added to each look with oversized pockets, contrasting zips, cheetah prints and an array of jewelry, as bags, totes and waist bags offer up eye-catching accessories.
Realised in a wide-ranging color palette of off-white and “Charcoal” to soft yellows, pinks, oranges and “Mint Milk”, the collection’s all-leather look arrives in a striking and bold red.
