Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill has assured fans after revealing he is being treated for stage-three blood cancer.

The Peaky Blinders star has been receiving chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

The Hunt for the Wilderspeople star was told he had the disease shortly after experiencing swollen glands during publicity for Jurassic World Dominion last March.

While he is now cancer-free, it is expected he will continue treatment monthly for the rest of his life, and wrote his memoir Did I Ever Tell You This? while receiving therapy for the cancer.

The Hollywood told the Guardian that his upcoming book gave him a ‘reason to live’.

The Commuter actor has since shared another update about his health, telling his concerned fans he is ‘well.’

In a post posted to Instagram on Saturday, he said: ‘My news is all over the news at the moment, and it’s sort of [like], “Cancer, cancer cancer” and it’s slightly tiresome because as you see, I’m alive and well.

‘I have been in remission for eight months, which feels really good. And I’m alive and kicking and I’m going to work.’

Neill added he was ‘excited’ to return to work, with filming on the Peacock limited series Apples Never Fall starting in seven days.

Also starring Annette Bening, the drama is an adaptation of Big Little Lies and Perfect Stranger’s author Liane Moriarty’s best-selling book of the same name.

The show follows former tennis coaches and parents Joy (Bening) and Stan (Neill), who from the outside appear to have the perfect family, which starts to crumble when Joy disappears.

According to Lymphoma Action, angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is a type of T-cell lymphoma – non-Hodgkin lymphoma that develop from white blood cells called T cells.

Many T-cell lymphomas have complicated names based on the type of cell they develop from or particular proteins they make.

The actor, who reprised his role as Alan Grant in the blockbuster Jurassic Park franchise last year, also starred as Major Chester Campbell in hit BBC series Peaky Blinders.
