UK rap star and actress Little Simz has just released her latest single, “Gorilla,” taken from her critically-acclaimed album, NO THANK YOU.
Simz’s latest album arrived smaller in scale in comparison to the movie-like Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. However, the latest album — which has been exclusively produced by Inflo — still incorporates similar sonics such as live orchestra elements, and a full choir for added substance. With this in mind, the project is full of many highlights, with one coming in the form of “Gorilla.”
The record has been a shining light since the release of the album, and now the single has some visuals to go with it. As a whole, the song gives an overwhelming “started from the bottom” energy, one that outlines the journey Simz has endured to arrive at her current point of success.
Underpinned by Inflo’s infectious horns and boom-bap drums, the record’s accompanying visuals capture the Top Boy star around a collection of BMWs, while she’s also dressed in a selection of clean-cut suits and baseball caps.
Simz is then joined by a traditional brass band — who play on the lawn — and they keep the live instrumentation aspect of the record in full flow, as Simz is filmed floating in the air while she lays her delicate rhymes.
