Love Island star was diagnosed with 'really scary' brain tumour aged 20

Love Island star Andrew Le Page has opened up about his ‘really scary’ brain tumour diagnosis aged 20.

The 27-year-old, who reached the finals of last year’s edition of the ITV2 show with girlfriend Tasha Ghouri, 23, discovered he had a tumour after a lump grew on his skull.

The reality TV star hadn’t initially planned on getting the ‘big’ growth checked out by doctors but his worried younger brother Adam took action and booked an appointment.

Speaking on Tasha’s Superpowers podcast, Andrew explained: ‘So I had like a lump on my head for like a few years, and my brother felt it and was like “Andrew, what is that?” and I was like “I don’t know, I’ve had it for a while”.

‘Then and there, he called up the doctor and got me an appointment and I had an MRI, then went back to the doctors again, and they told me I had this brain tumour.’

Andrew said he broke down in tears after the devastating diagnosis and was unable to speak due to the shock.

He continued: ‘I went back into my car, started crying, and literally went back to work that afternoon.

‘They all knew I’d gone to the doctor’s for it, and they were like, “How’d it go?” and I couldn’t speak. I literally just could not speak.

‘Eventually one of my colleagues went to my boss and said “I think Andrew needs to go home and process this.”‘

A few weeks after the diagnosis, Andrew travelled from his home in Guernsey to London to have an operation to remove the tumour.

‘It was scary, really scary. Like this is major, having a brain tumour at 20. Within two weeks, I flew to London and had surgery, got it removed, but at the time it was so scary, like what could have been,’ he added.

Fortunately, Andrew stressed he was ‘all good’ after the ordeal and, since leaving the villa, his relationship with Tasha has gone from strength to strength.

In December, he even gifted a tearful Tasha a promise ring, with rumours having swirled the pair are set to get engaged.
