Lucasfilm has announced that it has three new live-action Star Wars films currently in the works. The president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 during its annual studio showcase.
The three movies will be directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Mangold is the director who recently took the reins from Steven Spielberg for the fifth Indiana Jones flick, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, while Dave Filoni most notably directed The Mandalorian. Obaid-Chinoy, who has been awarded Academy and Emmy Awards, is known for directing Ms. Marvel.
Mangold’s movie will date back to the dawn of the Jedi. Filoni’s, meanwhile center on the New Republic and serve to wrap up the interconnected stories of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and other Disney+ series
Obaid-Chinoy’s project will take place following the events of Rise of Skywalker and see Daisy Ridley return in her role of Rey, seeking to build out a new Jedi order.
Titles and dates for the films have yet to be revealed. Stay tuned for more updates from Lucasfilm.
