Mark Zuckerberg has officially announced that Meta will be leaning into the AI trend.
Zuckerberg appears to have big plans for generative AI, which the CEO says, will be coming to all products including Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. While the company has not fully adopted to the ways of generative AI, Zuckerberg has made it abundantly clear that artificial intelligence is the future. In a new report from Axios, Zuckerberg had a companywide all-hands on deck meeting to lay out Meta’s AI plans for the future. The CEO briefed employees that the company plans on placing generative AI “into every single one of our products.”
The plan extends to include AI “agents” for WhatsApp and Messenger, which Zuckerberg has explained in the past. These two apps are likely the first to get the feature. An early version of an AI chatbot was seen on Instagram this week and was indicated that the app could have as many as 30 different “personalities” to choose from. Meta is also in the works of creating a generative AI photo editing function on Instagram that would allow users to edit their photos through text prompts and share images back to their Stories.
It is unclear how many more AI features will launch and when exactly the timeline will be.
In other tech news, Reddit reportedly plans to lay off 5% of employees.
