Celebrities can be (understandably) guarded when it comes to introducing their kids to the world. So, it’s always a nice surprise when you finally get to put a cute little face to the name — and Thursday, the world got its first look at Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons’ son, Ennis Howard. While the family made their rare public outing so Dunst could receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the real star turned out to be their towheaded tot.
Dunst and Plemons, who got engaged in late 2016 and welcomed Ennis in 2018, have managed to keep their son out of the spotlight so far. But, with Dunst set to be honored in such a big way for her career accomplishments, the couple apparently decided it would be the perfect night for Ennis’ debut. In addition to being present as his mom received a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk, the little boy got to see his dad take the podium in celebration of Dunst. Who better, right? The pair began dating after working together on the set of Fargo.
For the occasion, Ennis looked adorably SoCal-dress-casual in a blue button-down shirt, tiny black trousers, tennis shoes and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap, to boot.
During his speech, Plemons alluded to Dunst’s depth of character, both professionally and personally. “Aside from the brilliant actor you are, I’ve also had the even greater pleasure of getting to know you as a person outside of work. Seeing the kind of mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and cohort you are is why I and all of your friends and everyone else are here today and why we all love you. It’s for the incredibly generous and amazing person that you are,” he said. Affectionately referring to Dunst as “Kiki” and “Keeks” throughout this speech, Plemons went on to call his future-wife “the best woman I know.” Say it with us: awwww!
Although Dunst and Plemons are typically private people, especially when it comes to their son, Dunst seems to be stepping out more with the release of her highly buzzed-about new series On Becoming a God in Central Florida. Ennis’ big debut comes days after Dunst’s profile for NET-A-PORTER’s digital magazine, PorterEdit, came out. In it, she candidly revealed that getting pregnant with Ennis “was a surprise” in the sense that she thought she would have trouble conceiving.
“If I hadn’t met Jesse, I would have frozen my eggs,” she admitted. “[But] it feels like I lucked out.”
