Mick Jagger's life, many children, and rockstar status as the legend turns 8

Sir Mick Jagger is a certified rockstar and is still performing at 80 years old, he’s even thought to be engaged recently to girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 36.

The Rolling Stones founder and frontman has been an icon of British music since the band’s first hits in the 60s.

Earlier this month, a source revealed Sir Mick and his choreographer and former ballerina girlfriend were engaged to be married.

The pair have been together since 2014 and welcomed their son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, two years later.

Sir Mick is one of the most influential artists, along with the other Stones, of all time with a career spanning six decades – recently the group played BST Hyde Park.

With international number one hits like (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction and Paint It Black, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement winner is undeniably a legend of music.

Who is Mick Jagger?

Born on July 26, 1943, Michael Philip Jagger was raised in Dartford, Kent to a gymnast and PE teacher father and hairdresser mother.

At seven years old, he first met Keith Richards as the pair were classmates – little did they know they’d one day become the Rolling Stones.

The pair lost contact but met again on the platform of Dartford railway station, reigniting their friendship and beginning a musical partnership that would last 60 years.

They moved to London with guitarist friend Brian Jones, performing as a Blues group before eventually becoming The Rolling Stones.

Sir Mick and Keith wrote their third number one hit The Last Time together in the mid-60s, before storming international charts with Satisfaction.

The Rolling Stones have released 25 studio albums plus Sir Mick’s four solo endeavours, as well as a record with David Bowie that went straight to number one.

Despite some turmoil, the band reunited in the 90s, having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after losing bandmate Ian Stewart.

They performed as Glastonbury headliners for the first time ever in 2013 as well as two 50th anniversary gigs in Hyde Park.

Sir Mick’s impact stretches beyond just music as the legend has had newly discovered species named after him as well as induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame and a knighthood.

Adding to his accolades he also reportedly has a net worth of a whopping $500 million (£390 million), according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Melanie, who is 44 years his junior, began dating the rock icon in 2014with their son born two years later.

Sir Mick was wed in 1971 at a Saint Tropez destination ceremony, to Nicaraguan-born actress Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias, 78.

They have one child together, who was born the same year, but separated in 1977 before a formal divorce in 1978 on the grounds of Sir Mick’s adultery.

In 1977, he began dating American model Jerry Hall, 67, and the pair had an unofficial private marriage ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, on 21 November 1990.

While still with Jerry, the mother of four of his children, Sir Mick had a three-year affair from 1991 with Italian singer and future First Lady of France, Carla Bruni.

It wasn’t until the rockstar’s affair with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez, 53, was exposed that Jerry and Sir Mick split in May 1999, with the marriage declared invalid.

The star was in a relationship with fashion designer L’Wren Scott from 2001 until her suicide in 2014, leaving her entire estate at an estimated at $9 million (£7 million) to him.

After the tragedy, he set up the L’Wren Scott scholarship in her honour at London’s Central Saint Martins College.
