As New Balance continues to unearth more and more models from its archives, the 878 has been brought back in a handful of understated colorways – the latest of which are a duo of stormy-toned makeups. One offers a mixture of black and gray while the other opts for a much lighter gray and sail, but each boasts signature NB quality and attention to detail.
First up is the black and gray pair, which offers a slate base and overlays that seemingly teeter between anthracite and smoky black. The entire shoe utilizes this two-tone build, save for the heel tab which supplies a touch of flair by switching to navy blue. Next, the gray and sail offers an entirely gray upper equipped with a reflective midfoot N logo and placed atop a sail midsole.
Both pairs boast an intricate layered construction that adds a swath of suede overlays above a minimalist mesh base, with extra branded hits on tongues, collars and heels alike. Thick ABZORB midsoles with wavy midfoot lines round off both looks.
These New Balance 878s are both available now at HBX, priced at $106 USD.
