Noel Fielding has recalled a hilarious encounter with Blue’s Lee Ryan, a taxi and comedian Alex Brooker.

The Great British Bake Off host, 50, hopped into a cab with The Last Leg co-presenter, 39, and the All Rise singer, 40, years back after a boozy Channel 4 party.

Both Noel and Alex believed each other had invited the Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word musician on their London night out and were then left confused when they realised neither of them knew him.

But, rather than work this out after their soirée, The It Crowd actor and Alex made the questionable decision to have the excruciating conversation in front of Lee while they travelled to Soho.

Noel’s memory of the hilarious journey was prompted when Blue came up on Wednesday’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks, presented by Greg Davies, 55.

‘I think I got a bit wrecked with them once at a Channel 4 party,’ Noel remembered.

‘Do you remember that Channel 4 party though?’ Alex interjected. ‘Me and you ended up in a taxi into Soho with Lee Ryan.’

The trip clearly came flooding back to Noel as he winced and commented: ‘Oh my god.’

Alex explained he believed Lee had been invited by Noel, while the Mighty Boosh star thought the singer was an acquaintance of the comedian.

Eventually, it dawned on Alex and and Noel that neither of them knew Lee and he had effectively tagged along on their night out – and they discussed it while he was still in the taxi.

Breaking down into a fit of giggles, Alex said: ‘And then he’s like, “I can hear you.” He was sat right in front of us as we were having this conversation.’

In January, Lee was found guilty at Ealing Magistrates’ Court of racially aggravated common assault by beating and behaving in an abusive way towards the cabin crew member.

The court heard he had boarded a British Airways flight from Glasgow to London City Airport on July 31 last year after drinking a bottle of port.

After being refused more alcohol on the plane and told to return to his seat, the popstar made comments about attendant Leah Gordon’s looks, calling her ‘my chocolate cookie’, before saying she could have their ‘chocolate children’ and grabbing her wrists.

Last month, the singer stated when appealing the conviction: stated: ‘I’m not racist’, and also insisted that it was ‘drunk banter’ on the flight and there was no malice or intention to upset anyone.

The One Love musician will be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks launches tonight at 9pm on Sky Max and NOW.
